Our 75-acre campsite in Brewster County, Texas has direct access to Terlingua Creek!  This property is located between Big Bend Ranch State Park and Big Bend National Park.  Traverse a few miles down a maintained county gravel road for direct access to this property!

Why stay at a campsite where you’re packed in on top of other campers when you can have this entire 75-acre property all to yourself?!  Many other campsites in this area limit you to a small area where you can pitch a tent but you must stay in that small area… NOT US!  You can hike all over this 75-acre property and camp wherever you want!  Direct PRIVATE access to Terlingua Creek is SUPER RARE!

PLEASE NOTE that this is a RURAL CAMPSITE with NO improvements other than a road we have bladed into the property that leads to a clear area where you can camp!

• There is/are NO electricity, NO bathroom, NO shelter, NO RV hookups, NO dumpsites, NO trash cans, and there is generally NO cell phone signal or service in this area.

 

You will need to be 100% self-sufficient and bring everything that you’ll need for the time you spend here – we provide the land and you provide EVERYTHING ELSE!

 

This is a great property for anyone looking to camp in a remote, yet accessible, area with very few other folks nearby.  You can bring your tent and set it up in the area we have cleared or choose somewhere else to set up camp!  You can tow a camper/RV and park it along the road we've bladed into the property or drive it down to the campsite!  Heck, you can even show up with a lawn chair and a snuggie and have a super mobile camp setup!

* DO NOT leave any trash, debris, etc. behind.  You MUST pack out EVERYTHING that you brought with you, no exceptions! *

* DO NOT remove anything from the property.  You can look, touch, and explore, but please leave everything (example: fossils) where you found them so that others can enjoy them after you! *

The property is under 5 miles from the intersection of Highway 118 and Agua Fria Road.  It’s accessible via maintained county roads which you can usually traverse with a low clearance 2-wheel drive vehicle but we always RECOMMEND a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle for traveling off of a paved highway in this part of West Texas.  If you are coming after a rainstorm, we recommend waiting a bit for the area to dry up and/or having a 4x4 vehicle because even though the roads are maintained county roads, they can get slick and flash floods through the seasonal creeks that cut through the roadways do occur!

• This is 75-acres of PRIVATE PROPERTY that’s all yours to enjoy during your stay here, you’re free to hike around and explore it all!  It’s like owning your own land without the expense of owning your own land!

• To preserve the beauty of this property, we do ask that you minimize your driving on the property.  Feel free to pull your vehicle(s) down the road that we've bladed into the property and all the way down to the campsite that we have cleared but after that, please use your feet to explore the rest of the property!

• Please feel free to hike around and explore every inch of the property if you so desire!  With direct access to Terlingua Creek, cliff-like creek formations, and thick vegetation patches throughout, there is no shortage of spots for you to explore during your stay here.

• Be sure to bring your camera, we have a feeling you’ll want to photograph “all the things” during your time here.

 

INCREDIBLE VIEWS!

• If you’ve been to this area of West Texas near Big Bend, you already know about the incredible views in every direction.  If you haven’t been to this area, buckle up that chin strap or your jaw is going to hit the floor once you see this landscape.  A few of the views you’ll get to enjoy from this property include:

  • 9-Point Mesa to the Northeast

  • Packsaddle Mountain to the Southeast

  • Hen Egg Mountain, Herman’s Peak, and Terlingua Creek to the South

  • Alamo Creek, Paint Mountain, Agua Fria Mountain, and Needle Peak to the Southwest

 

THE STARS AT NIGHT ARE BIG AND BRIGHT!

• Yes, that’s a song but we’re serious – the night skies here are second to none.  With very few neighbors in sight, there’s not much man-made light in this area which in turn equals AMAZING star gazing opportunities!  Trust us, you won’t need any sort of screen to entertain you at night with all the stars you’re going to be able to see!

 

FANCY VIEWING WILDLIFE?

 

• Bring your binoculars and walk over to the edge of the creek and look to the East where you'll see a single large tree with thicker vegetation surrounding it - there are LOTS of animal trails running through this area so hopefully you'll get a glimpse of something!  We’ve seen burros, foxes, doves, quail, crows, free-range cattle, coyotes, aoudad, mule deer, roadrunners, snakes, etc.!

• PLEASE BE AWARE that this is West Texas and there are many dangerous animals (and situations) out here but most of them won’t mess with you if you don’t mess with them.  Don’t let your guard down and be sure to be always aware of your surroundings!

 

LOVE FOSSILS?

 

• If so, you’re in for a treat on this property!  The creek bed of Terlingua Creek provides an excellent opportunity for searching out fossils!  Feel free to look, touch, hold, and photograph anything you see but PLEASE lease all tangible items where you found them so others may enjoy the same things that you enjoyed during your stay here!
